Meet Silver, a charming short-haired grey cat with striking amber eyes who was rescued from a difficult life on the streets in Richmond Hill. He quickly adapted to indoor life, where he enjoys the steady supply of food, playtime, and love. With his sweet, quiet nature, Silver delights in gentle interactions and sometimes “talks” to remind you it’s time for food or affection.
Second Beginning for Silver
Silver has found his furever home and been renamed to Zeus by his family! He is adjusting with ease to his new family and enjoying a pampered life.
Straight from the Pawrent
On July 28, 2024, my husband and I were out for lunch, and we didn’t want to go home right away so decided to pass by PetSmart which was around the corner and see if there were any animals at that location. But of course, I had to make my husband promise me that we were ONLY looking. I had to make sure he heard me before entering the store.
With our luck, there were many animals during that weekend. Specifically, “Cats”.
As we were looking through the glass, they were all so adorable. I repeat ONLY LOOK AT through the window. To be honest, I had small dogs, birds and fish growing up but never a cat. I never even pet one before that day. My husband had a couple growing up so he was experienced with them.
As my husband was looking through the glass window, he fell in love. He saw our Zeus aka Silver sitting there with so much confidence that my husband looked at me and said “I really want to take him home. He is the one”. I just ignored him because we had an agreement before entering the store. I was hoping he was going to get over it.
My husband then decides to ask the very helpful animal professionals a string of questions about that specific cat. He wanted to pet him and see him up close and wanted me to join. I put up some courage and walked through that special door that takes you behind the glass to actually hold or pet the animals. My husband instantly had a connection with Zeus aka Silver. He fell in love with him. I pet him but I didn’t connect with him that instant. My husband kept telling me that he really wanted Zeus aka Silver, and we should call our teenage boys and get their opinion. We then decided to go home and talk about it as a family but as we exited the store and sat in the vehicle on a speaker call with our boys, the three of them outnumbered me and we decided to go back in the store and see what we needed to do to proceed with this adoption. I always said no to any animals in our house, but I caved, and we were now going home with one.
As we got home with Zeus aka Silver, he instantly adapted well. He met the family and then he immediately explored the entire house. I mean really explored. We are talking about rooms, closets, washrooms, basement and walked on top of the beds and all the furniture. Once he was done, he decided to lie down on my eldest son’s bed and take a nap. He just felt so comfortable. He ate well and interacted with all of us. I was a bit hesitant for a couple of weeks, but he grew on me. He kept coming around me and I slowly started to connect with him. I wasn’t afraid anymore.
It’s now almost three months and Zeus aka Silver is beyond comfortable with the family and his new home. He is the boss. He is so spoiled that he has our full attention and enjoys playing with his toys we purchased for him but especially his springs and rainbow fabric string on the stick. He gets so many hugs, kisses and love from each of us daily. The way he plays with us reminds us of a pet dog. He plays fetch and meows constantly for things he wants. He even meows to let us know after he used the litter box.
Today, we cannot imagine our lives without him. We are so blessed that we went to PetSmart when we did. It was meant to be. We are so lucky and Zeus aka Silver is so lucky to be so loved and in a loving home.
