Foster Application Form

We are regularly in need of new foster homes to take in abandoned and homeless cats. Before completing the application, please read below and answer the following questions to ensure you can provide foster care.

  • Are you able to separate the foster cat(s) from your own pets?

  • Fosters should remain isolated from resident pets to prevent transmission of illness / disease (URI - Upper respiratory infections, eye infections etc.) and stress for both the resident pet and foster(s).

  • Will you be able to spend quality time with the cat(s)?

  • Socialization is just as critical as food and medical care to the well being of a cat / kitten.  Typically, it is best to spend at least 2 hours a day with your foster.

  • Can you get your fosters to and from Veterinary appointments?

  • Can you provide weekly updates & pictures of your foster(s)?

  • Can you commit to the entire foster term?

  • Foster period can last from 2 weeks to several months. Typically, our fosters move to our adoption location when they are ready for adoption and space is available.

  • Fosters are required to purchase their own food, litter and cat accessories (litter box, bowls, toys, treats etc.)

Foster care is temporary care provided by responsible, compassionate and caring adult volunteers for Saint Cats Rescue Richmond Hill (in short Saint RH) cats until they can be adopted to quality homes. Providing a good home environment with proper socialization, exercise and loving care gives our foster animals a better chance of being placed more quickly. We do not operate a shelter and rely on our foster homes for the success of our adoption program. Being able to place cats in foster homes allows us to increase the number of animals we can rescue.

Saint RH will provide the costs for all necessary veterinary care for foster animals and provide continued support and guidance to the foster family. Fosters are required to purchase their own food, litter and cat essentials (litter box, bowls, toys etc.)

You will be expected to keep the foster animal safe and secure, provide food, water, love and respect, exercise, enrichment and socialization as needed to make the foster animal more adoptable and better suited to the right home. Please note foster animals MUST be indoor only. You will return the foster animal to Saint RH when requested to do so; not promise the animal to anyone or imply that you have the authority to approve a potential adoption. Saint RH retains ownership of all animals placed in foster care and will make all decisions regarding the adoption and placement of the animals fostered. The foster parent is responsible for transporting the foster animals to and from pet adoptions and vet appointments as required, unless other arrangements are made. The foster parent is responsible for advising Saint RH if there are any concerns noted with a foster animal's health so that the concerns may be dealt with in a timely manner. Foster services performed by an individual are voluntary and are without any express or implied promise of salary, compensation, or payment of any kind.

I have read and understand the questions and statements in this application. I certify that all the information contained in this application is true and correct and I understand the responsibilities I will undertake as a foster parent. I understand that although Saint RH takes reasonable care to screen animals for foster care placement, it makes no guarantees relating to the animals' health, behavior or actions. I understand that there exists a risk of injury or illness to my own or other animals, to me, my family and other persons who come into contact with any Saint RH animals, as well as risk of personal property loss or damage.

I understand that I receive foster care animals at my own risk and can decline to accept any animal for which Saint RH has asked me to provide care. I acknowledge that Saint RH is not responsible for any property damage or personal injury suffered by me, members of my household, including my own animals, or any third parties during a foster placement. I assume the risk of all injuries and/or property loss or damage in connection with my foster volunteer duties for Saint RH. I assume liability to provide adequate controls to prevent such damage or injury.

I indemnify and hold harmless Saint RH from any negligence caused by me.

I hereby release Saint RH its officers, directors, participants, volunteers and affiliates from any and all claims, actions, liabilities, damages and costs of any kind arising out of fostering, transportation or any other work or activity with any animals connected with Saint RH.
